Why you need these patterns:
I’ve really been into Vogue patterns lately! When I saw these 2 patterns separately, I immediately knew they had to go together! The feminine drape of the wrap top makes V9315 an absolute winner and the cascading flow of the skirt makes V2033 its partner in crime. I sewed up view B for the top and view A for the skirt.
Fun Facts:
When I first envisioned this project I wanted to combine the 2 patterns together to make a dress. I planned to omit the tie on the skirt front and the waistband and sew the unfinished bodice hem to the unfinished skirt top. Welp, it didn’t work out that way you guys! The way the skirt is put together spoiled my plans. I’m still happy with the separates though!
Final Thoughts:
If I had to do it over again, I would remake the top in a more lightweight fabric. Even though I love the fall color palette here, this top begs to be made in a flowy challis for spring! I’ve finally accepted the fact that I have a longer torso and will probably need to make adjustments on most bodice patterns I sew up. Next time I plan to add a few extra inches to this top as well!
The skirt is a one and done for me! I don’t know what it is about me and skirts… we don’t get along very well. 😂 This Vogue skirt pattern wore me out ya’ll! Maybe it was the hem that got me… I think I’ll find something a little more friendly for my next skirt project.
Fabric Choices:
I got both of these fabrics from Gail K Fabrics in Atlanta. The top is a sea green crepe and the skirt is a multicolored challis cut on the bias. Alternatively for the top you could use; cotton shirting, chambray or rayon challis. For the skirt; crepe, crepe back satin, linen blends, or rayon challis.
Notions:
- Top: Single fold bias tape
- Skirt: 7″ invisible zipper, hook & bar closure
